Embracing the Romantic April Snow: 2024 Miaoli Tung Blossom Festival and Tung Blossom Tours

The season of snow-white Tung blossoms adorning the mountainsides has come again. The Miaoli County Government, in collaboration with five townships, is hosting the 2024 Miaoli Tung Blossom Festival and Tung Blossom Tours, featuring a series of Tung blossom appreciation activities. Today (April 10), a promotional press conference was held at the county government office, inviting people from across the country to come to Miaoli, stroll through the mountains, and experience the charming culture of Hakka villages.

Miaoli County Deputy Magistrate Teng Kuei-chu stated that on April 21, the county government will hold the Miaoli Tung Blossom Festival: Artistic Joy with Tung Blossoms event at the Ginger Garden in Dahu, combining green trees, mountains, and Hakka Tung blossoms. The event includes “Flower Praying,” traditional Tudigong worship ceremonies, “Flower Searching,” Tung blossom appreciation accompanied by melodious singing, “Flower Gathering,” Tung blossom gathering where visitors can taste local specialties like turmeric tea and enjoy Hakka cultural performances, and “Flower Fruit,” Tung blossom-themed markets featuring products from local farmers and cultural entrepreneurs. Visitors are invited to the farmer's market, enjoy some tea under the Tung blossom trees, and appreciate local musical performances, immersing themselves in the romantic atmosphere of Tung blossom petals floating in the air while savoring the unique charm of the mountain city.

In addition to the Miaoli Tung Blossom Festival, the county government and local townships are launching five Tung blossom tours: the "Enjoy Zaoqiao – Tung Blossom Tour" in Zaoqiao Township on April 20 and 27, the "2024 Miaoli City Maoli Tung Blossom Tour" organized by the Miaoli City Office on April 27, the "Tung Tour in Sanyi: Sanyi Tung Blossom Leisure Tour" of the Sanyi Township Office on April 27, the "2024 Nanzhuang Tung Blossom Fun" organized by the Nanzhuang Township Office from April 20 to May 5, and the "2024 Zhuolan Miaoli Tung Blossom Tour" of the Zhuolan Township Office on April 14, 20, 27, and 28. Through a series of Tung blossom tours and experiences, local residents are encouraged to take trips into the mountains in April and May to admire the beautiful snow-white Tung blossoms, and return home with a sense of body, mind, and soul fulfillment.

Huang Chih-chun, Deputy Director of Culture and Tourism, pointed out that Tung Blossom Festival routes along Tong blossom appreciation points have been arranged along the trail, with street performers invited to entertain the crowds with music and songs. The routes are divided into easy, and guided, more challenging tours, with the former allowing people to roam free and the latter accommodating two groups of 40 people each by reservation. This year, special shuttle services have been arranged for the event, with 80 seats available. The shuttle buses will pick up passengers from designated locations, including the Miaoli High-Speed Rail Station, Miaoli Railway Station, and Dahu Wine Resort, and take them to the Ginger Garden. Participants will receive a Tung blossom coaster upon registration. Both the Tung blossom guided challenging tour and shuttle service are free of charge. Registration is open from 2 p.m. on April 10 to 6 p.m. on April 17. For registration information, please visit: https://www.accupass.com/go/miaolitungblossom.
