Xihu Township boasts beautiful scenery and is one of the main production areas for pomelos nationwide, with a planting area of approximately 70 hectares. Every March and April, during the blooming season of pomelo flowers on Hudong Pomelo Mountain of Xihu Township, the delicate white pomelo flowers emit a fresh and elegant fragrance against the backdrop of lush green leaves, creating a serene and delightful atmosphere.
The county government subsidizes the annual Pomelo Flower Art Festival and Xihu Pomelo Industry Marketing Event organized by the Xihu Township Office during the pomelo flowering season. Attracting many tourists who engage in activities, such as hiking and appreciating the flowers on Pomelo Mountain and surrounding pomelo orchards, or leisurely touring Pomelo Mountain by renting electric carts from the visitor center, these events have become a local annual celebration.
The 2024 Xihu Pomelo Flower Art Festival, scheduled for April 6, features agricultural and specialty product exhibitions, Hakka food markets, family DIY experiences, and stage performances. The Pomelo Flower Music Performance includes harmonica performances at the Qingyi Pavilion on Pomelo Mountain, Hakka Eight-Tones (Ba-Yin) performances at Dawo Parking Lot, guzheng performances, and performances by Hakka orchestras at the Hudong Multi-Purpose Center. In addition to experiencing the natural atmosphere filled with the fragrance of pomelo flowers during the Pomelo Mountain hike, participants can also take part in checkpoint activities. Collecting three stamps entitles participants to a 60-dollar cash voucher, which can be exchanged for small gifts and saplings at the main venue. Alternatively, they can purchase tickets to board the "Township Tour Bus" departing from the main venue, passing through attractions such as Jixuan Farm, Jinlong Kiln, Wu Chuo-liu Museum, the Xihu Visitor Center, and Campagne. Guided by tour guides, visitors can explore various scenic spots in Xihu up close, get a closer understanding of Miaoli County's award-winning rural areas, and enjoy the beauty of pomelo flowers.
