Magistrate Hsu Yao-chang said Tongluo is the primary and largest production place of chrysanthemums in Taiwan. During every flower season, more than 150,000 visitors are attracted to enjoy the flowers. Yesterday, he experienced the flower sea in person and live-streamed the flowers on Facebook. He also took photos with the golden silk chrysanthemums of the successful trail planting this year to promote local agriculture.

Hsu Yao-chang pointed out that the major crops of Tongluo Township, Miaoli County, in November, are chrysanthemums and taros. Every year, the Farmers’ Association holds the “Chrysanthemum & Taro Festival.” Chrysanthemums of Tongluo account for 80 percent of the total production nationwide. Run by the County Government, the Farmers’ Association performs pesticide residue testing so that consumers can enjoy products safely. The area of taro planting in Tongluo Township is about 120 acres. The chewy and smooth taros are of high quality. People from all over Taiwan are welcome to visit Tongluo and purchase chrysanthemum and taro products of guaranteed quality that consumers can enjoy safely.

According to Tongluo Farmers’ Association, under the influence of crop rotation this year, the chrysanthemum planting area has been reduced by 30 percent. The planting area is estimated to account for 30 acres. The chrysanthemum fields are located in Jiuhu, Zhangshu, Tongluo, Zhongping Village, and Jiuhu Tableland. The Farmers’ Association has planned six routes to enjoy the flowers. The three-week period starting from mid-November will be the best time to enjoy the flowers. Furthermore, on every weekend from today to November 29, traffic control will be implemented on district roads 38-1, 38-2, and flood protection roads in the surroundings of Jiuhu Tableland.

To diversify the agricultural products of Tongluo, Tongluo Farmers’ Association has also actively developed various products this year, including “Chrysanthemum Beer,” “Chrysanthemum Tremella Drinks,” “Mesona Gift Box,” “Chrysanthemum Black Tea Bag,” “Chrysanthemum & Mesona Bag,” and “Chrysanthemum Gift Box” as souvenirs.
