Mesona Flower Festival in Shitan Township

The Mesona Flower Festival was held at Dadongshi Mesona Flower Field in Shitan Township on November 25. The purple Mesona floral sea, along with six earth-inspired pieces of art by local young artists and activities, including a small farmer's market, a floral sea concert, and Mesona DIY, attracted numerous tourists to roam among the romantic purple floral sea and experience the rural scenery of Shitan Township.

 

This is the third year that the Mesona Flower Festival in Shitan Township has been held. The planting area of Mesona in Dadongshi has also doubled in sized this year, with a total of 24,000 Mesona flowers planted in a field of 5819.502 square meters. The event was held on November 25 and 26, and featured six earth-inspired pieces of art created by local young artists. The artwork was displayed in the Mesona floral sea for visitors to appreciate.

 

 

The opening ceremony held today was hosted by Deputy Magistrate Deng Gui-ju, Miaoli County Councilor Yang Gong-lin, Mayor of Shitan Township Liu Shu-neng, Chairperson of the Township Council Lin Chang-yuan, Mayor of Gongguan Township He Zai-xin, President of the Farmers' Association Gu Ming-yu, Chief of Staff Huang Huan-xiang, Director of the Agricultural Department of the Miaoli County Government Chen Shu-yi, and Deputy Director-General of the International Culture and Tourism Bureau of Miaoli County Huang Zhi-qun.

 

Awards were also given out during the ceremony to the most favorite earth-inspired pieces of art as voted by the public. Messing around Mesona, Sai Xia – the Heart's Eye, Star Mesona Flower-watching Cabin, and Spinning House·Spring Plouging all won recognition.

 

Deputy Magistrate Deng Gui-ju strongly promoted the event. She stated that the Mesona blossoming period lasts until the middle of December and recommend visitors to seize this limited opportunity to visit Shitan Township and enjoy the romantic scenery of the purple floral sea and taste delicious local food while experiencing Hakka customs in Shitan Township.

The Mayor of Shitan Township, Liu Shu-neng, sincerely welcomed visitors to Shitan Township to appreciate the purple Mesona floral sea, and avail of high-quality agricultural products and expand business opportunities. During the event, the township office also provided a shuttle bus service from Miaoli Railway Station to the event site from 8 am to 2 pm. The shuttle bus ran every 40 minutes. A shuttle from the event site to Miaoli Railway Station ran every 40 minutes from 10 am to 5 pm.

During the Mesona Flower Festival, as well as the Mesona floral sea and six earth-inspired pieces of art for visitors to enjoy, also on offer are the floral sea concert, local small farmer's market, and Mesona DIY activities. Those who spend $500 at the event can avail of the chance to win a Mr. Lion doll in the games machine.
