Labelling of Products Containing Honey

The Ministry of Health and Welfare officially implemented the Regulations Governing the Labeling of Prepackaged Honey and Syrup Products from July 1, 2023. The name of prepackaged honey and related syrup products must be labeled in accordance with the honey content from the day the regulations became effective. Only products actually containing honey ingredients can be labeled as "honey", "pure honey", or "100% honey".

Prepackaged honey products containing sugar (syrup) and more than 60% honey content shall be labeled as "Sugar-Added Honey"; sugar (syrup) products containing other raw materials should be labeled in accordance with the actual raw materials contents and worded as "Blended Honey" or "〇〇 Containing Honey"; honey products containing less than 60% honey with the word "honey" on the label must have a consistent font size and clearly labelled "With Honey Flavor" or equivalent; products actually containing honey but with a content of less than 60% shall be labeled as "Honey [Blended] Syrup". The overall packaging label of the product must not mislead consumers nor violate the regulations. Prepackaged syrup products without added or containing honey ingredients are not allowed to be labeled as "honey". The outer packaging of the product must also state the place of origin of honey raw materials.
