Miaoli Police Crack Down on Transnational Escort Station, Arrest 6 to Purify Pre-election Public Security

On the evening of November 9, 2023, Miaoli County Police, under the command of Prosecutor Peng Yu-ching from the Miaoli District Prosecutors' Office, collaborated with Hsinchu County Police, Penghu County Police, Miaoli County Immigration Special Forces, and Taoyuan City Special Forces to simultaneously conduct searches in Miaoli and Hsinchu. They successfully busted a transnational escort station led by a Vietnamese missing migrant worker named Nguyen, bringing back 2 main suspects, 3 foreign prostitutes, and 1 customer.

The Miaoli County Police had recently received intelligence indicating that the missing migrant worker Nguyen was operating a Vietnamese female escort station. She advertised sexual services and attractive photos on adult forums, soliciting clients. Interested customers would then join specified messaging apps according to the ad content and proceed to the designated escort station under Nguyen's guidance. Based on this information, the police tracked down the criminal vehicles, followed the suspects, and eventually pinpointed two escort stations in Zhunan and Nguyen's hiding place in Hukou, Hsinchu. Seizing the opportune moment on the evening of the 9th, they launched a search operation and successfully apprehended the suspects.

Upon investigation, it was found that Nguyen recruited fellow missing migrant workers or Vietnamese women with overstayed tourist visas through social media for prostitution. The price for each sexual transaction was set at NT$1,800, with an additional deduction of NT$800. Knowing that the prostitutes under her were in Taiwan illegally, Nguyen regularly sent people to the escort stations to replenish supplies for sexual transactions and collect earnings to avoid police scrutiny.

Miaoli County Police Chief Chuang Sheng-hsiung stated that the main suspect in this case would be transferred to the Miaoli District Prosecutors' Office for investigation on charges of violating the Criminal Code for offenses against public morals. The prostitutes and the customer would be dealt with according to the Social Order Maintenance Act for offenses against social order. The police will continue to trace the source and investigate if there are any links to human trafficking or organized crime, aiming to thoroughly purify public security in Miaoli County ahead of the elections.
