Since Dahu strawberries are in season, the “Sweet Happiness in Dahu” event attracted many visitors on the 228th-consecutive holiday. The growing regions in Miaoli account for approximately 450 hectares, with 80% of the areas located in Dahu. The yield value of strawberries in Dahu is also the highest in the country. The cultivation season is expected to last until April and May. The Dahu strawberries’ species is Xiang Shui providing large fruits with a firm texture. There are also other varied species, such as Feng Xiang and Lian Xiang, both offering guaranteed quality.

Xu Yao-Chang demanded the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic and stated that people should spend more time outdoors to increase their vitamin D intake and eat more strawberries that are rich in vitamins. The strawberries are also great gifts for family and friends. Visitors are welcome to pick strawberries in Dahu and enjoy a fun-filled with your family.

Director-general, Xu Qin-Zhi of the Dahu Farmers’ Association stated that Dahu strawberries are not impacted by the COVID-19 virus and continue to grow in popularity. Tourists that have planned to travel abroad or visit the department stores have changed their plans for a more local outdoor itinerary. Visitors that partake in picking fruit in Dahu have increased by 20%, compared to last year. As a result of less rain and large temperature differences between night and day this year, the quality and yield of the strawberries are better than experienced in 2019 while the price remains unchanged. Currently, the strawberries are in season and it’s the perfect time to pick fruit.

Today is the first day of the 228th-consecutive holiday. Many guests visited to have fun with their families. Besides the “Red Strawberries” competition held at the event, there were also agricultural products marketing, great shows, interactive games, a prize quiz, a parent-child magic party, bubble party, and balloon party. A joyful atmosphere succeeded throughout the event.

Also, in response to the consecutive holiday of 228th Peace Memorial Day, Dahu Precinct also implemented traffic control measures on the important roads accessing the strawberry farms and the hot spring areas to provide traffic safety and fluency so that the visitors could commute conveniently.
