Miaoli County Magistrate Visits Valofresh in Longtan to Promote Smart Agriculture and Environmental Innovation

On August 14, Miaoli County Magistrate Chung Tung-chin visited Valofresh in Longtan, Taoyuan with a team from the county government to gain in-depth insight into the company’s advanced technological agricultural model. Valofresh has created a pesticide-free, high-yield smart agricultural park utilizing Finnish photomask technology that recycles water resources over a thousand times. Magistrate Chung Tung-chin expressed his intention to actively introduce such advanced technologies in the future and encourage local youth to engage in smart agriculture and collectively advance Miaoli's agricultural sector towards health and sustainability.

On the morning of August 14, Magistrate Chung led a delegation to visit Valofresh in Longtan, Taoyuan, to closely examine its unique technological agricultural model. Centered on "technological vegetable cultivation," Valofresh has integrated advanced Finnish photomask technology to establish a pesticide-free, year-round stable production smart agricultural park. The park’s water resources are recycled over a thousand times, thus achieving zero waste. Wu Tsai-tao, the founder and a Miaoli native, not only successfully established this smart park but also innovatively developed "loofah fiber hydroponic foam" to replace traditional plastic and offer a more environmentally friendly option for agriculture. This product recently won a gold medal at the 123rd Concours Lépine since using natural loofah fibers instead of artificial foam for seedling cultivation significantly reduces agricultural plastic waste and makes a crucial contribution to environmental protection.

The hydroponic vegetables at Velofresh are grown and harvested in a strictly controlled environment, ensuring that the produce is healthy and fresh. This model improves the quality of agricultural products while reducing the environmental impact so that consumers can safely enjoy pesticide-free vegetables.

During the visit, Magistrate Chung Tung-chin personally inspected the greenhouse cultivation techniques and various vegetable varieties to learn how Velofresh combines technology with agriculture and actively promotes food and agriculture education. This initiative helps both consumers and elementary school students gain a deep understanding of the advantages of modern agricultural practices and the principles of environmental protection.

Magistrate Chung expressed his honor in visiting Velofresh at the Longtan Aspire Park in Taoyuan. Chairman Wu Tsai-tao provided a detailed introduction to the park’s establishment process and the unique Finnish photomask technology. This system effectively controls the plant growth environment, achieving a model of nearly zero-waste circular agriculture. The park’s water resources undergo over a thousand cycles of reuse, which demonstrates the model’s strong commitment to environmental protection.

Velofresh cultivates a diverse range of leafy greens that are known for their sweet taste and excellent quality. We were fortunate to taste a salad made from pesticide-free, E. coli-free vegetables, and the freshness was truly impressive. Such a large-scale, high-tech agricultural park not only provides premium agricultural products but also holds significant educational value.

We look forward to introducing similar agricultural technologies in Miaoli, encouraging local youth to invest in smart agriculture, and collectively creating a healthier and more sustainable agricultural environment. We also sincerely thank Chairman Wu for bringing this successful experience back to Miaoli and injecting new vitality into the agricultural development of his hometown.
