The Miaoli County Government held a press conference this morning in the lobby of the First Office Building to launch the 2026 edition of Explore Miaoli. Celebrity couple John Chen (Chen Chih-Chiang) and Simba Tseng (Tseng Chih-Hsi), ambassadors for this year’s edition, attended the event and joined Miaoli County Magistrate Chung Tung-Chin in unveiling the newly published travel magazine to distinguished guests. Members of the public may obtain a free copy, while supplied last, at designated distribution locations specified by the county government.
This year’s Explore Miaoli features Chen and Tseng, widely recognized as a model couple in the entertainment industry, as travel ambassadors. Stepping away from their roles as actors, the two explored Miaoli as travelers, journeying through its mountains, coastline, urban areas, and rural communities while experiencing the warmth of the land and local hospitality. Their itinerary included destinations such as Glimmer Hill in Chuhuangkeng, Gongguan, Chuanlong Tofu Workshop, Fule Noodle Shop, the Miaoli Railway Museum, Mingde Reservoir in Touwu, the Sun Town Culture and Art Forest Park in Houlong, and A-Biao Seafood Restaurant. Through strolling, tasting, and immersive experiences, they gained a deeper appreciation of Miaoli’s cultural heritage, industries, and everyday life. Both scenic landscapes and local cuisine left a lasting impression, and both expressed hope that their journey will inspire more travelers to take the time to explore Miaoli’s 18 townships and cities and discover their own memorable experiences.
Magistrate Chung noted that each of Miaoli’s 18 townships and cities possesses unique characteristics that are worth a visit, with Miaoli City highlighted in this edition as a model travel route. In recent years, the county government has actively engaged with youth markets and entrepreneurial communities to listen to younger generations. By connecting railway heritage, local industries, and community living spaces, the government aims to support youth engagement in local development while encouraging visitors to experience the cultural richness and charm that Miaoli has cultivated over time.
Culture and Tourism Bureau Director-General Lin Yen-Fu stated that Explore Miaoli has now entered its 20th year of publication and continues to enjoy strong popularity among travel enthusiasts. This edition features diverse highlights, including “Blossoming Route,” “Journey from the Heart,” “Craftsmanship Heritage,” and “Miaoli Culinary Journeys,” guiding visitors to explore Miaoli from multiple perspectives. The township travel series also covers all 18 townships and cities and features a new “Timeless Privileges” section, collaborating with 16 local businesses to provide exclusive promotional offers. Visitors who take photos with the guidebook and make purchases at participating stores can enjoy special discounts.
The 2026 edition of Explore Miaoli launches at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow (February 6). Two hundred copies will be available at each of three Visitor Information Centers — Zhunan Railway Station, Miaoli Railway Station, and Taiwan High Speed Rail Miaoli Station. Visitors may receive one free copy per person by following the instructions to like and follow the “Explore Miaoli” Facebook page. Supplies are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. In response to international environmental sustainability trends and paperless promotion, those unable to collect a printed copy may download the digital edition from the Miaoli Culture and Tourism website. The link can be found at the bottom of the website homepage. The public is encouraged to make use of this resource.
