On the morning of July 26, 2025, the Miaoli County Government held a recognition ceremony for model fathers and "Good People, Good Deeds" role models at Qianxi Hall, praising 42 outstanding role models from all over the County – 21 model fathers and 21 people who embody the principle of "good people, good deeds" – to recognize their selfless contributions to their families and society.

A father is like a mountain. When a child faces difficulties in life, their father provides support and gives the child courage to keep striving and moving forward. This year, more fathers who have earned this recognition in towns with large populations, including Miaoli, Toufen, and Zhunan, have been honored as role models. The 21 model fathers were recommended by 18 township (town and city) offices. The oldest model father is Mr. Wang Xin-fei, resident of Shitan Township, at the age of 98. He diligently raised his children and has taken in his uncle to live with him. He also rescued a drowning child from a pond. He not only supports his family but is willing to sacrifice himself to save others, putting the core value of the recognition into practice: "A father’s love is like a mountain, and good deeds are like light." Mr. Huang Ying-san and his wife, who are residents of Toufen City, have been working in education for over 40 years. All of their children have grown into professionals in their respective fields. Their eldest son currently serves as the Vice-Dean of Chung Shan Medical University Hospital. Mr. Zhang Rong-xin, who is a resident of Zaoqiao Township, is 96 years old, obtained his medical license at the age of 21, and has been a doctor in Taipei and Miaoli for over 70 years. His four children are physicians serving at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and Taipei Municipal Wanfang Hospital – a true legacy medical family. Mr. Li Xu-qin, who is a resident of Xihu Township, was elected as Miaoli County Councilor at the age of 28, receiving the highest number of votes and becoming the youngest county councilor in Miaoli County history at that time, serving nine terms. His eldest daughter, Ms. Li Shang-an, has continued her father's footsteps and is currently a county councilor. Mr. Zhan Yong-zhao, a resident of Miaoli City, is the Superintendent of the Bao Sheng Tang Chinese Medicine Clinic in Miaoli City. He has worked as a medical doctor for 30 years and organized over 100 free clinics. In every ordinary family, there is an extraordinary father. Their stories are exemplary and commendable.

Moreover, to create a warm and harmonious social atmosphere and encourage the public to do good deeds, this year saw an increase in the number of people exemplifying the concept of "good people doing good deeds" also in towns with large populations, including Miaoli, Toufen, and Zhunan. A total of 21 people have been recognized, the oldest being Mr. Liu Xiang-jun, resident of Miaoli City, at the age of 91. He excels in painting with oil and cement paint, and tidies up and beautifies the north entrance of the Gong Wei Xu Tunnel, making it a must-see sightseeing attraction for tourists. Mr. Jiang Rong-fu, who has served as the Neighborhood Chief of Zhuolan Township for over 30 years, is enthusiastic about public welfare and dedicated to serving local residents. His children have inherited his beliefs. His eldest son, Jiang Wen-qi, is a Zhuolan Township representative, and his second son is a neighborhood chief. Ms. Qiu Mei-zhi is a resident of Xihu Township. With kindness and an enthusiastic nature, she has devoted herself to primary public health work and promoted care of the elderly with a positive and optimistic attitude. She has been recognized as an "Outstanding Maintenance and Temporary Worker" in the past. Ms. Jiang Xue-yu, who is a resident of Touwu Township, runs the well-known A-Yu Noodle Shop. In addition to her successful business, she arrives at school at 6:30 every morning to protect student safety and is an active volunteer of the community caring station in Touwu serving elderly and community residents. The warmth and kindness of the 21 role models who were praised for their good deeds this year have spread throughout the 18 townships and cities in Miaoli, filling Miaoli with love.

The recognition ceremony today began in a lively, warm atmosphere and was kicked off by Alright Band's wonderful performance in conveying Hakka culture and the spirit of respecting and thanking fathers through beautiful music. A special video was also recorded from America by the Magistrate's daughter, delivering a warm Father's Day greeting. The Magistrate shed a tear and all attendees were very touched and moved by her kind words.

On behalf of the county government team, Magistrate Chung Tung-chin expressed his thanks to all model fathers and role models for their dedication. Love for one's family should be fully expressed in many different ways. He also wished all fathers a very happy Father's Day.
