To promote the innovative application of drones and the smart industry, the county government is holding the drone microfilm and AI competition, “Miaoli Youth Fly,” which is offering a total of NT$300,000 in prizes to drone microfilms that market the beauty of Miaoli. The AI challenge race also offers great gifts and prizes, and Magistrate Hsu Yao-chang welcomes drone pilots and young friends to actively participate in the competition.

Today, the Labor and Youth Development Department convened a press conference at the county government hall to promote the competition. Magistrate Hsu Yao-chang and several county counselors, as well as Director of Tung Hsiao Power Plant, Taipower, Li Ming-dao; Gongguan Township Mayor, Zheng Mei-lu; and Director of Labor and Youth Development Department, Peng De-jun, controlled the drone together to announce the start of the microfilm and AI competition, inviting experts from different places to compete for prizes through innovation.

Miaoli enjoys the unique resources of its natural landscape and the culture of ethnic integration. Travelers can visit the seaside townships to enjoy the charm of slow fish, the mountains to go hiking and camping, or the mesmerizing old streets to taste delicacies. The first drone photography competition was held last year to market the beauty of Miaoli and attract many visitors to Miaoli for immersive travel.

Magistrate Hsu Yao-chang said the combination of drones and AI application is the county government’s promotion focus of innovative industrial development. In addition to its uses in agriculture, environmental monitoring, and disaster prevention and rescue tasks, this year, the drone rescue team has also been formed to increase rescue efficacy by combining drones with AI. The drone microfilm competition is also being held again. It is hoped that the innovative industrial development will attract young people to return to their hometown and work here.

According to Hsu, with the county government’s active coordination with the military and the assistance of the central government, the announced open airspace for drones in Miaoli has become larger. Pilots can freely operate their drones in the beautiful mountain city. Experts participating in the drone microfilm competition are expected to follow aviation regulations, add some smart ideas to photography, and market Miaoli’s beauty.

Director of Labor and Youth Development Department, Peng De-jun, said the competition will offer a total of NT$300,000 in prizes, with NT$100,000 for first place, NT$60,000 for second place, and NT$35,000 for third place. There will also be the best creativity award, the mountain city theme award, the ocean theme award, and the most popular award, as well as three merit awards, each of which will be given prizes ranging from NT$10,000 to NT$20,000.

In addition to emphasizing photography skills, creativity, and aesthetics, the competition specially focuses on theme interpretation and scripted stories. Participants should serve as directors shooting the cultural characteristics, ecological environment, industrial development, and festivities of Miaoli County to market the beauty of Miaoli. The competition is open for submission from today to August 28. For more information, please visit the website https://miaoli-fly.com.
